FAQs TFI Real Time app

1. How do I set-up my favourites?

Select ‘Search by Stop’ option in the main drop down menu (top left). Type in the stop location you want to add to your favourites. Tap location to select. Once selected, press back arrow at the top left hand side to return to ‘Search by Stop’. The stop you searched for will appear under the ‘Places’ tab. Simply tap the star next to it to favourite it.

2. How do I rename my favourites?

Select ‘Search by Stop’ option in the main dropdown menu (top left). Your favourites are listed under the ‘Places’ tab. If you own an android press and tap and hold down the stop name, select ‘RENAME’ at the top right corner of the screen. If you own an iPhone, swipe left on the stop to rename.

3. How do I find my stop number?

You can find it on the top of the bus stop or shelter, just below the bus symbol. You can also find it at the top of the timetable in the shelter.

4. What does the blue flashing dot next to a time mean?

A flashing blue dot next to the TFI Real Time icon means that the information is live and in real time. If there is no blue dot/icon next to the time then it is a scheduled service, which may not always be accurate.

5. What factors can affect real time accuracy?

Unanticipated problems such as a road closure or a mechanical problem can sometimes affect bus services. Occasional incidents can also occur where a street is closed, for example on St Patrick's Day, for a march or big sporting occasion. In cases like the above, Bus Inspectors sometimes need to make changes to scheduled bus services and it may not always be possible to reflect this on individual signs due to short notice. The real time system was developed to respond as far as possible to service disruptions, for example if a bus is stuck in traffic the waiting time can increase, however some disruptions could still affect the accuracy of the prediction. Occasionally a fault may occur in communications between the central server and the on-bus equipment that can disrupt the real time information.

6. How can I view the live location of my Dublin Bus?

* *Please be advised this feature can only be used when searching for Dublin Bus routes. From the main menu go to ‘Search by Route’ and enter the Dublin Bus route number you are looking for. Tap on your option. At the top of the screen select ‘Show on map’ and click on the three dots that appear on the bottom left of the map to select ‘Show live vehicle positions’ option. You may have to zoom in to view the live position icon on your device. The live position icon is the bus icon without a circle.
